ACTS has been truly blessed over the past 6 and one half years. At inception ACTS was created to financially assist the Lake Avenue Community Foundation with a steady and reliable stream of funding to aid in the incredible programs offered to change the lives of children in our Pasadena community. Since our grand opening on July 10, 2010, ACTS has contributed over half a million dollars to this worthy cause. Then God moved ACTS to another unexpected service that we never anticipated. ACTS now partners with twenty other incredible non-profit organizations such as Door of Hope, whose mission is to equip homeless families to rebuild their lives; Elizabeth House, which provides shelter, hope and support to homeless pregnant women and their children; and the Foothill Unity Center which provides food, shelter, transportation, and health services to individuals and families living below the poverty line, to name a few. This additional blessing has deepened the ties of ACTS to our very local community. None of this would have been possible without your support.
Over the last two years ACTS has been experiencing significant growing pains. Our parking lot is insufficient and our donation drop off experience has become confusing and cumbersome. We tried to create a new drive through donation drop-off center on the patch of property behind our store only to see our hopes dashed by City regulations and requirements that made the project impossible. To make matters more challenging our landlord sold our property to a new company and will require us to relocate. Our Board of Directors and commercial real estate agent scoured the city in search of an acceptable and sizable location that would improve our operations and offer our shoppers and donors the kind of experience they need and deserve. After many months we were not able to find such a spot and our search for a replacement location took us further and further from our base of support.
We have tried to minimize the flow of speculation until God’s plan for us have been totally revealed, but we are hearing more and more comments from shoppers and friends of ACTS as to what will happen to their store.
I am confident that the mission and ministry of ACTS Thrift Store will not end. We are currently in final negotiations with two separate locations at this moment that will continue our relationship with our local Pasadena community and offer our customers the same quality merchandise that they have grown accustomed to and I promise to disclose the future sites of ACT when they are finalized.
Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.
