The emphasis and mission has remained constant: providing job search resources to promote economic independence for every client that comes through the door.
Women At Work provides a myriad of resources and support to people who are out of work, who are looking for advancement, entrepreneurs, and anyone who would simply like to increase their confidence and proficiency in technical skills. The primary programs are:
A full resource center with hundreds of categorized job leads that are regularly updated through the employment development office of Women At Work;
A weekly Women At Work Job Club where support and dozens of hot job leads are distributed;
Individualized counseling sessions, financial workshops, career skills courses, and job search resources;
Basic and advanced technology classes;
Training At Work, where public, private companies, agencies and foundations can get customized training for their employees and clients.
All services are free or nominally based with sliding scale fee pricing available. The Center is staffed with five full time staff and four part-time permanent employees. An addition, the Center provides hands-on job training for an additional temporary staff, who have been referred through other partner programs such as Workforce Investment, National Asian Pacific Center On Aging, and Senior Employment Retraining Services. Lastly, a myriad of volunteers contribute thousands of hours assisting staff with its mission, “To help a broad range of clients reach their full employment and earnings potential in a supportive environment.”
